After a successful stint with the Superfone A80 Infinity, Micromax is getting ready with the next in the series – the A90. The Indian mobile-giant seems to have clicked with the A series well, and thus is planning for a bigger and better version of A80 which was released just a few days back. The new phone is expected to have a bigger 4.3 inch Super-AMOLED screen and will support two GSM SIMs.

Specifications

The new smartphone will run on Android 4.0 a.k.a. Ice-Cream Sandwich. It will be fitted with a more powerful processor than its predecessor, mostly more than 1 GHz against 800 MHz. The highlight of the phone is going to be a stunning 4.3” Super-AMOLED touchscreen, plotting it against the Galaxy equivalents by Samsung. The rear camera will be a good 5 MP with LED flash, while the front video-calling cam will be a VGA. The internal memory is going to be 1 GB which can be expanded (read exploded!) to a staggering 32 GB. As for the smartphone’s connectivity, it will be 3G enabled and will sport Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth v3.0. The micro USB port will also be the latest v2.0. Apart from that, it will be loaded with apps for Facebook, YouTube and Google search.

Specifications  at a glance:
- 1 GHz Snapdragon S1 (Cortex A5)
- Adreno 200 Enhanced GPU
- 512 MB RAM
- 4.3″ Super AMOLED WVGA (800×480)
- Android 4.0 ICS
- Price Tag: Rs. 12,000
- Launch: 25th July, 2012

Micromax has successfully capitalised on its image of providing cheap, affordable and feature-rich phones till now, and would surely like to retain its market. The A90 smartphone is being speculated to be priced at Rs.12,000 – much more than the A80 but very competitive when compared to Sony’s Xperia U and Samsung’s Galaxy Ace Plus.

Date of release

As always, there is no official word from the company, but the markets are expecting this phone to come by this August.
Tagline: The screen of the phone is a real stunner, and the maximum memory size of 32 GB is really desirable considering the explosion of media content around us. In total, a big thumbs up to this smartphone!
